Does splitting terrain patches increase the number of verts?
Does welding them back together using 'v' & 'w' revert the count back to what it was? Even after welding the verts, each face individually selects instead of as a group.

Yes and yes.

I don't know what you mean by "each face individually selects instead of as a group".

Thanks for the reply. (= What I mean is: When I split up the patch, I have 225 individual squares of terrain or faces, whatever you wanna call 'em. After I've welded the verts together again, when I select the terrain patch, it still selects each individual sqaure, rather than the whole patch, leading me to believe it wasn't reducing the vert count. The terrain is 16 patches X 16 patches, with each patch also being 16X16, so I just wanted to be sure before I did alot of splitting.

You have 16 individual 16x16 patches? Is that right?

If so, you won't be able to weld anymore patches to a 16x16 as 16 is the highest you can go. You can align each vert with "w", but you won't be able to add to the patch.

If you want to be able to select all of your patches together, after they are lined up where you want them, select all of your patches then right click the 2D window and select "func > group". Then you will be able to use "Shift+Alt+left click" on any of the patches in the function group, and it will select the entire group.

What I meant is: The terrain patches are 16 X 16 lines. I cut some of the patches into individual faces, meaning a patch would produce 225 individual square faces. Just wasn't sure if welding the faces all together would do anything as when I clicked on the patch afterward, the whole patch didn't highlight, just the indivdual faces. But it must've worked as the map is compiling again & no giving me the g_lmap assertion failure. Thanks for the clarification. =)
