Trying to follow Tally's workaround for an mp map loadscreen. I'm as far as the iwd file but don't know how to make one.
Well, I could lay a tutorial on you on how to make one, but the easiest way to do it is to copy one from the game (inside the 'main' folder) and empty it of all content, rename it, and use that for you map.
The art to being a modder is think outside the box. To think around corners.

The iwd file mimics your main folder so for a load screen the only thing you will need is the directory "images/loadscreen_mp_yourmapname.iwi".
Create the folder "images" outside of your game directory.
Copy your "loadscreen_mp_yourmapname.iwi" into "images".
The following is done with WinRaR:
Right click on the "images" folder and goto "Add to archive...".
Change "Archive format" to "ZIP".
Change the name from "images.zip" to "mp_yourmapname.iwi".
Press OK.

Simple type error there Amish.
Change the name from "images.zip" to "mp_yourmapname.iwi".
Should be mp_yourmapname.iwd

you surely mean mp_yourmapname.iwd? Not .iwi?
The simplest way to create a brand new IWD file is to use Windows' built-in .ZIP compression files:
1. Anywhere on the Windows desktop, create a new folder, by right-clicking and choosing new > folder. Dont bother naming it.
If you already have a folder on your desktop, just use that instead.
2. Open the new folder, and at the top of the folder, click on tools > folder options.
3. Click on the 'view' tab, and take the check mark out of 'Hide extensions for known file types'.
4. Close it all down, your done with the folder. You can delete it now if you like.
5. Now, again click anywhere on your Windows desktop, and again right-click, but this time choose new > Windows ZIP Archive.
6. You will now have a .ZIP file on your desktop. Right-click it, and click rename. Change the file extension from '.zip' to '.iwd'. You will be prompted by Windows to say yes if you're sure. Click 'yes'.
7. The file will change to an IWD file. |

This is essentially a renamed zip file, so yea its a file that is placed next to your level fast file.

Yea, that was just a typo, my bad. The last step before "Press OK" should be .iwd and not .iwi

Sorry to keep being a pain.
Tried the way Tally said to create an iwd file, and it made one. mp_uwsloadscreen.iwd. But there is nothing in there right? or is this what I need to put into the mods folder along with the loadscreen.iwi?
I understood it as the loadscreen.iwi goes in the iwd. so I tries amish's way with the images folder with the iwi in it. but it does not create and iwd file.
sorry if I'm missin something simple but I'm tryin to learn. ![[ohwell]](images/BBCode/smilies/ohwell.gif) |

Once you've created a new IWD, obviously it wont have anything in it, because its brand new. So, you have to put in your stuff.
Create an 'images' folder. Put in your loadscreen.iwi and your minimap one (if you've made one).
Open the blank IWD file, and drag and drop the 'images' folder into the IWD file.
