I would like to learn how to make a weapon model for HL2. Any tutorials? I know 3D modeling, so that's not the problem, I just don't know what programs to use etc...

Hi there are 12 VTM’S on making a colt 1911 in XSI here halflife2.filefront.com/files/Half-Life_2/Tutorials_and_Guides/VTMs;4385 XSI has a free version for HL2 here www.softimage.com/home/ there are some VTM’S in the 1st link to make a map in XSI then export it to hammer.

BAH! I downloaded XSI, but when I tried to save the scene, it told me that I have to register first O_O? Did I get the whrong version? I downloaded the XSI Mod Tool 4.2 demo. I couldn't find any special Half-Life 2 version... v_v

It looks like they have changed it a bit from when I got my copy. I could not use it as the screen resolution was so high that when I turned it up on my monitor I had a hard time reading it Yes you do have to register it for it to work and it is free also do a search for XSI VTM’S there are some good ones out there. My version of XSI was V3 not V4.2 I got b4 HL2 come out and could never use it but that’s life. Did you also get the download Mod Tool Add-On for Valve Source www.softimage.com/products/Mod/v4/default.asp?pg=http://www.softimage.com/products/Mod/v42/downloads/

I downloaded the valve add-on, went in XSI and installed it. But it does nothing! I see absolutely NO changes, and I still can't save or export without it pestering me about a activation key. I would email them and ask, but their homepage is so extreamly messed up and confusing... whine whine

Oh your so nice :) downloads all the tutorial pdf files That colt video was good, but I got some wierd stuff happening to my gun, Something to do with the "invert polygons" function, which makes one side of the face black and the other normal. Exept I got dual back faces on most things and it got out of hand totally ruining the possibillity to work with. But atleast I can make the shell of a colt now :P
