oki can someone point me in the direction of the sound fast files that we got with cod ww for zombies. is it raw/sound ? or is there a special lil zombie place hideing

i'm going to stick to this theory (how ever hopeful):

the developers were so appalled by the poor quality of their sounds that they couldnt bear to send them out to the mapping community.
they are working hard to improve the sounds and will spend their xmas day making a patch for the game which will include a whole new audio system.

and they are eating the coder who made the spawn system in their gravy.

I take that to mean that the simple act of compiling a Fast File as of the Treyarch wiki instructions is a breach of the law as we are copying the files and placing them into a fast file for distribution. So mapping and modding by the definition of those terms are illegal. We need some clear understanding of what we can and can not do.

Not just sounds get copied into a fast file, but the fact that the Subway map has released a Fast File with included compiled sounds, it should be OK to follow suit.

If my levels release causes legal issues because of this, then I got the sounds from the above mentioned levels release not from my tools or game files. They were given to me willingly and knowingly. I might of downloaded that FF without having the game and so not agreeing to any license agreement.

I'm not a lawyer this is just my opinion.

If the legal issue is that we can't pass around the sounds to people that don't already own them (i.e already bought the game) then what the hell is the problem? I'm not going to give my level with packaged sounds to someone who does not own the game, because they could not play it!

If the issue is that the sound recording company need MORE royalties because they found out that the sounds they made are ALSO being made available for modding purposes, i.e more content for the game which can be used in advertising and is solely owned by Activision then modding = more sales and more royalties. If the sounds start appearing in other games, bingo even more money for them through law suits. Win win win for the sound gurus.

Are we being biased? All of our opinions end up pointing to the same conclusion that sounds should be legally allowed to redistribute to those who already have them.

If we aren't being biased, then wtf is the hold up. lol

i got the sounds from the subway level. thanks for the early map release its help us a great deal with sounds and getting them working. now what is it i may be breaching ??

Ok i was over at callofduty.com and some info on what fixes are going to be addressed in the new patch have been released..

As for using your own sounds, I suppose you just need parent/guardian permission to use the sounds of your nephew [lol]. Then comes the tedious work of properly name and placing those sounds within the game. That's the real problem.

No response from Activision (letter I sent). I said I would give them a chance to tell me not to make this download available. It's been a week. The extraction utility is now available.
