Hi. I am having major issues with this game. I can play the first level without difficulty but the game crashes when the next level is loading due to some DirectX error, I get the message: "DirectX encountered an unrecoverable error. Check the readme for possible solutions." The readme only gives retarded answers.
Yesterday when we tried to LAN this game I also had major crap. Some maps loaded and others didn't load at all. My DirectX can't be the problem, because it's up to date and I reinstalled it several times with different versions. WTH?

i had this same issue....

you can try reinstalling the directx that came on the cd - browse to the directx folder and launch the executable...

the other thing i would do is check if you have the latest drivers for your videocard - the more likely culprit.

Well, I reinstalled the directX that came with the cd a few times. I also tried the one that came with farcry2. Both didn't work.

This time I doubt it's the gfx drivers, since yesterday at the LAN guys with really old pc's were able to play the game, and I highly doubt they had drivers that were very recent. I have nForce 178.13, and the latest is 180.something. When I have enough bandwidth again I'll download Nvidia's massive gfx drivers...

Downloading new drivers is always a good thing to do.
But just clicking the DirectX program will only download new files, it WON'T effect old files!
You need to uninstall it first (removers can be found with google and other search sites).

Yeah it has got something to do with my drivers or something, because NFS Undercover also doesn't work. I installed both WaW and Undercover on a new installation of XP, and they worked. SO somewhere a driver is corrupt. I guess its time for a format...

you dont necessarily have to format....

typically when you install a new version of directx you need to update your drivers - the gfx card co's typically already have a driver set primed and ready to go... you just need to update your driver set
