Put maps C:\Users\Admin\AppData\Local\Activision\CoDWaW\mods\mp_usermaps.

Run with the mod mp_usermaps in command line.

That is not correct. Maps go in:

Quote:
C:\Users\Admin\AppData\Local\Activision\CoDWaW\usermaps

Its essentially the same fs_game division COD4 had, only moved over to the Local Apps directory.

Set the maps up just like we did in COD4: each map has its own folder inside 'usermaps'. In other words, the setup is:

Quote:
C:\Users\Admin\AppData\Local\Activision\CoDWaW\usermaps\mp_yourmap

In 'mp_yourmap' folder, you have the following:

  1. mp_yourmap.ff
  2. localized_mp_yourmap.ff
  3. mp_yourmap_load.ff
  4. mp_yourmap.iwd

You can use any mod you like, and run the maps just like we did in COD4, referencing the map from a server config file.

If you want to launch the map from the game's 'main menu', you do need to use a mod whose folder name is prefixed with 'mp_' otherwise, it doesnt show in the 'mods' menu.

Select the mod from the 'mods' menu, the game screen will go black as it switches to the mod environment.

Then, choose 'Start New Server', and go from there.

I did not say it wouldnt work - I said that way is not correct. That is, it is not "best practice".

Just because you can do something, doesnt mean you should.

Your way of setting a server up will put all maps in mod folders. What happens when someone wants to run a mod with their custom maps? You will have to put everything in the same folder. And that will then eventually lead to the IWD name mismatch error.

Also, all the maps download at once.

The method I described, which is actually coded into the CoDWaW.exe, avoids both those problems.

Essentially, we should be encouraging people not to mix maps and mods in the same folder.

We should be teaching everyone to keep mods in their own unique folders, and each map in its own unique folder as well.

It might be working but its bad pratice, when Treyarch fix the redirect then you will want to have those maps outside the mods folder to avoid the download of all of them! Tally's solution is best at present.
