A quick question/refresh:

If I remember, building in the unreal editor heavily relied on you mathematically laying out your level before you started building, as 'drag resizing' the brush seemed to resize it from parallel planes of a brush, rather than just 'pressing' in from one side. That being the case, I found it very difficult to map for since I much rather like the 'bricklaying' and resizing style that I use when I make maps for Q3.

Does that make any sense? Is the editor still like that (or is not out yet?)?

All in all, I'm wondering if I should get excited about this or not...

I didn't get into the demo editor too much. But I posted a screenie of a room I built and textured. Also with lights. Check it out. I was using one of the old tuts for UnrealEd. Of course any new editor is going to be a challenge. The Level design book is a first I think. Don't think any other game came out with a design book.

Building the first room isn't so bad -- and adding lights and things like that is fairly straightforward and easy. It was adding multiple rooms and detailed/smaller brushes with effectiveness that I remember having difficulty getting the hang of. Hmm...I'll have to give it another shot. (It was one of the first map editors I tried, and I didnt' stick with it for very long)
