I assume that mods are set up in the same way as CoD4? I made my mod last night and tested it on my PC and all works fine (I am running from mods/mymod with +set fs_game mods/mymod and +set fs_basegame mods/mymod). When we put the iwd and ff on the redirect there is an error when clients connect:

File not put for quick download

We have it on a redirect, the redirect is in the cfg also. We have verified they are on the redirect but no file is download upon connection to the server.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Redirect appears not to be working in COD5. The only way to download mods or maps is apparently directly from the server.

If this is indeed not working, it is something Treyarch is going to have to address, as its a potential show-stopper.

Alright Tally thanks for the post, I assumed something drastic was wrong. So basically allow download in cfg but enter no redirect so the file is transferred directly from the server itself?

yep. meaning if your mod is anything over 2 meg in size, people are gonna sit there downloading at 12/kb a sec for 2 hours..
treyarch are living up to the people insults atm.

Custom maps aren't supported.

Or rather, they supported them but fucked it up.

Just wait for a patch, I know it's annoying, I've just about had it with CoD 5.

Try iyt this way.?
The mod here is the Codjumper MOD. we ran it and it worked fine.

1 goto you :\Documents and Settings\(USERNAME)\Local Settings\Application Data\Activision\CoDWaW
you will see a (mods Folder) enter that and then put in the Mod. in its own foler. named MP_MOD???

so inside your folder you should see.

ignore the other 2 files there they are made when in game.. You should have t he 2 blue files only.

Ignore the other way i showed befor. You Dont need the mods in the C:\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty - World at War\mods\MP_MOD

Now try thats and try connecting to server.

I dont think your getting the point Pal. You can download direct from the server - we know how to do that! What's borked is http redirect. Do you know what that is? Where you DONT download from the server, but from a website/webspace?

Basically, it doesnt work. Its been working fine in COD games since it was introduced in 2004, with the vCOD 1.4 patch. Now, Treyarch took something THEY created and borked it.

Anything over about 2 meg - and that means custom maps - will strain a server's resources and cause horrible lag if downloaded direct from the server.

Most custom maps are on average about 25 -27 meg. Try downloading that direct from a server, and it will take forever, and as I said, cause horrible lag.
