Hey guys...

Since I`m working on my first map, I might need to post often, so I will do it here...

Right now I`m working on a prefab building that will be included in my map, but I want to know if there is a way to actually go and "wander" in the building, like if I was in the game...Want to actually "feel" it in first person view, and verify certain shapes` size...Is there a way?

Watching Wyatt`s video tuts I could swear you can do it...

Sure you can, add a spawn point and sky box make sure to use some portals and then run the compile and there you go.

Hum ok...I though there was a quicker way...

I`ve checked the tutorials about worldspawns, but I`m not sure I understand everything...

I got all the infos on skyboxes and worldspawns values, but where is it I`m gonna tell the game wich to use?

I`ve got aall of Wyatt`s video tutorials, but can`t seem to find a good one on the last "steps" of map making [sad]

Anyways thanks a bunch, I`ll dig further see if I can find something...

hhhmmm... for the worldspawn: make a skybox, select all the whole skybox, then press 'n' the entity screen will pop-up, now fill the worldspawn values in the entitie screen. HOW..?
the key into the key bar, so for example sunlight, then in the value: 1.5 and press enter, now do that for all the values :)

yes Mav I already knew that part...I did a quick test and map loads fine except I`m stuck in Spectator, and can`t move on the map...My guess is I have something missing... lol

So far skybox/worldspawn/compiling is ok...

But how can I actually spawn as an american, with a thompson let`s say, to go and walk in the map? What is that intermission thing, what values does it need? WTF with it...all tuts I`ve watched or red they tell ya how to do the worldspawn but not the intermission stuff and others needed to be able to "spawn" in the map and walk in it...

Or maybe I didn`t find them yet...

Plz someone explain it in details for a poor noob...(Remember you were all noobs once...heh heh)

yep me was/is a noob ;).. but i think you need is a intermission and a spawn point:

right click in 2d screen-->mp-->deathmatch_intermission and deatch_match spawn (something like that i'm on laptop now no editor sry) place them in your map, the deathmatch spawn has to be on the ground or bit above it and intermission where you would like the player is lookiong at when in spectator mode :).... hope you understand it, and you can also do it for TDM ;)

Ok man that was a big help man thx...

Now I figured it out(I think), somewhat when I spawn I am stuck in the terrain...I tried putting the spawn point higher then the terrain but it doesn`t change...

I`ll do more testing...

Meanwhile if u have a solution..go ahead...

Hi there, You may have been spawned on a none solid texture and so have gone thru and are on the bottom of your sky box. Sounds daft I know but just check in your gradient editor that you have textured your terrain/ground with a solid texture! Have a close look at texture descriptions and you will notice some have an _ (underscore) in them, these are alpha and none solid.
The solid textures have the @ (at) sign in the description.

This can catch a lot of peeps out when first mapping.
