I have been mapping for a few hours, probably was dumb of me but I never made a testmap to see if i could compile in the first place.

So I tried to compile in the map I was making and its a total fail. It gets to a point in the compiling and just gives up and stops.

Gives me a whole TON of access denied errors which I have no idea what they mean.

I then made a test map. Just made a small room with a player start and a light. Room had no leaks and I compiled it. It compiled everything and then when it went to start the map it gave me that "host already connected".

So what did I do wrong?

That's fine starkk, I think everyone is having that problem. Once you get that error message, just press ok, then bring up the console by pressing the ` key and typing:

map yourmapname

Does anyone got other factions to work? e.g. ru vs ger...It seems the game ignore my ".gsc / .csc / .csv" assets & settings. It always load up the default teams us vs jap & the us viewhands model which causes an error. Tried to load the mptypes + characters manually but it dont work...unfortunately i cant check the mptypes_german.csv because these mptypes_xxx csv's are not included[ohwell] additional a .csc file tutorial would be nice[casanova]

Client side scripting isn't for MP seeing as MP CSCs weren't included in tools, just co-op.

Maybe it was ditched for MP because people could misuse it and make client side cheats in MP.

Ok..understand...thanks for the info sparks. But why i cant setup other teams? I see a russian spawn logo but the team-selection & scoreboard are still in us vs jap. In a kind this reminds me on the buggy modwarfare _teams.gsc from cod4[rolleyes]

well i know that the gsc is what sets the rus vs ger
on you loadscreen ,the csv set models that are loaded in the ff
,but i beleave that the levels.gdt, sets playertype ,so all 3 have to be set the same ,as far as the csv player types you can find them in the zone_source under common_players .csv
look though a few there are every player in game there

i have read through this and I am still gettin that silly gun in my face lol. looked at the barebones .csv and copied the character files and added them to my maps .csv file. only when I save it...it dosent. i recompile and nothing then go back in and the character files are gone. This is what you got to do:

Backup your .csv and .map file.
Now go to the launcher, click Create Map, fill in the name your map has. Now, open the .map files with notepad, copy from the backup to the new created file (created by Create Map). Also copy the content of the .csv backup to the new created .csv.

Now, re run the all the steps to get a map ready, and play it. Should be fixed now.

Side note: check if localised_mp_[mapname].csv is in [root]/zone_source/ if not, there is a problem, since create map creates one. You could also create a new map with a random name, then rename the localized file, and you might be done more easy (afterwards, delete the random map, if you want).

Hey im new to map making so i dont know if ive done something wrong but im getting the same error as others where it says access denied when you try to compile.

I've made just a simple map but ive had alot of problems so far and im almost ready to give up. i tried typing out (in game, in the consol) /map target_test . target_test is the name of my map and it did nothing when i put this command in.

Is there a way to run my map and see if it runs well besides the access denied?

Ignore the access denied messages, it means nothing important.

If you check all boxes directly on the right of the map list in the launcher, it will automatically run the map. Though, if you want to load it manually: go to mods and enable the mp_usermaps mod, then open the console and type: /map mp_target_blablabla

Your map must prefix with mp_ to make it multiplayer.

I made a new shortcut to the game, which points to:

"F:\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty - World at War\CoDWaWmp.exe" +set fs_game mods/mp_usermaps +map mp_test
