I've always wanted to give tribes a blast. What I personnaly found with big multi user games is eveyone seems more interested in just running around leveling up then actaully hucking up in a team doing some interesting multi-player stuff.

I found this especially bad in star-wars galaxies. Hundreds of users and not one of them speaking to eachother, all just running around solo killing things for scraps of exp....I can do that in diablo and not pay a monthy fee.

I did play planetside for a small time but soon got tired of that and again I think this was due to the lack of teaming up with people. (yes you were in a big battle with lots of other people on your side but I still felt so alone in the experience HELL you can do the same thing in BF1942 or COD).

I'm hopeing Matrix online will be alot more clan/ team based than most others, if you think about it and campare the idea to the films, it's all about team work...so who knows.

SO...Sure I want to give tribes ago but will it be like most online games? most probably (and it's hard to settle and find your feet in an online game, atleast I find it tough).

Marcus.

great points you made. I understand you quest for a good, long lasting game experience and I don't see it coming too soon.

Tribes disappointed me early on. I felt the game was laggy and modding was more difficult then it had to be while not offering enough ability to change things. Obviously this was when the game was still in it's first release, but that left a bad taste in my mouth. Playing all the following releases just brought back that same feeling since the gameplay didn't evolve all that much.

Planetside was horrible. The idea of the game was great, but implementation just sucked. I was in the beta for that game and the lag was sick and gameplay uninspiring. There was no way I was going to pay money to play it.

Matrix Online has little for me to look forward to. It looked like a modified version of the Sims. I checked it out at E3 and I think it's gonna be another stinker.

What made the hit games such a hit:

CoD had the best music I have ever heard. The gameplay was not much different then other games such as SoF, but that music just put me in the game and kept me there.

BF1942 had the vehicles that everyone was pleading for. It changed the way the game was played and allowed for larger maps.

Ah thank you Mr Foyleman

Now you've put me off Matrix onlineand the horrible feeling that their will never be a trully "second reality" that awaits me on the net , I think I'll just get rid of my internet connection completely...I mean what's the point?

*Goes away and sobs* (in the true rpg style)

oh... uhm... that wasn't exactly my goal.

I wanted to validate your feelings of those previous games since I felt the same... but then I also wanted to warn you about Matrix Online. I think Matrix Online is going to bomb. They might get some subscribers, but nothing that will last. Just check out the reviews before you pay to play.

But there are things to look forward to. We should start getting reports about Quake 4 this year. STALKER will be released this year. Who knows what else will be coming along.
