The free version of the left 4 dead demo was released today on steam. However when i click install demo on the steam store absolutely nothing happens. I was just wondering if anyone else if having the same or similar issues?

I had the same issue this morning. I did some research then and found that this demo install link has always been there since the private demo release date.

I believe it actually isn't available to the public yet which is why nothing happens when you install it. I'm at work, but I suggest someone check the Steam forums for this issue as well. Perhaps Valve doesn't know about it.

The demo is out now for the public, I've played the demo every day since last Friday its definitely worth a try.

techno2sl writes...Where is the public link? If you got the demo last Friday, then you are playing the private demo.

Welshy, Restart steam and try again.

aahhh there we go, i tried that once already and it didn't seem to have any effect but i guess it worked this time. Thanks foyle

Yeah sorry you had to restart steam for it to take effect I was following an event timer in order for a friend to download it: Events List

It was a couple of hours late but the console demo release was on time.


- Sorry, just re-read my post it did sound like I was saying the public demo was out since Friday I didn't mean that at all. But when I posted that was when the steam event calendar updated and my Friend could click the download link.

It should be noted though that there's also a new update, the update removes the split screen mode (so dont download the update if you want splitscreen) and it removes the ability to play as the zombies.
