Just thought I would stop by some of the most helpful forums I know of to try to get a couple problems fixed.

1. Random bursts of speed in games that I play. I don't know what it is, game runs fine, stable, but every like 1-3 seconds it seems to double it's speed. During this problem, any cut-scenes are not matching to the audio, the audio is usually overlapping itself with the other characters dialog. This isn't the game, this happens in a lot of games. Assassin's Creed, just happened in DiRT, was coming up on a corner, suddenly the game speeds up for a half a second or a second, and then goes back to normal speed. Happens in pretty much every game that I play, the only way I know how to fix it is to restart my computer. After that, it is fine. Eventually it pops up again, making me have to restart....again....

2. Directly game related. I downloaded Lost Planet off of steam. (lol). Sure, ported game but how bad could a port be? This game is like...the definition of the term "Ported to PC". Still tells me "Press A to continue" "Press your Y button to transform the XXXXX". So anyways, while my computer is doing that speed up thing that I mentioned above, I can play as long as I want. But it is annoying playing the game way faster than it is meant to be played. So...I restart my computer. Then the game crashes after about 5 minutes of gameplay. Has the windows error crash screen. I will play it again here shortly and can take a SS of the message or look for anything in the message that is important or that may point out the issue to someone smarter than me.

Mabye this can be fixed by a BIOS update, but apparently those are tricky to do. I will try it if I must though.
System specs (in case it matters).

8800 Ultras, SLI
Auzentech Prelude X-FI 7.1 sound card
AMD 6400 AM2 dual core.+
8 gigs of DDR2 memory (OCZ i wanna say? Forget)
nVidia 590 SLI motherboard.

I updated the drivers recently and the problems still persist. Everything except the BIOS.

So my SP2 is the newest. All my drivers are up to date. I even just now double checked. So it isn't any outdated software or hardware that is causing it... I will run a program called Memtest I guess, someone on Vent just told me to check it out. Mabye my memory is going bad? Just bought it, but just because a computer part is new, doesn't mean it is good.

Memory problems usually causes system crashes rather than speed ups :p

What motherboard model/make you have? I have the same chipset as you and i can easily update the BIOS using a USB pen drive (ASUS M2N-SLi Deluxe)
