it allready did happen now a few times that i try to open the sdk or try to play mp and i get the message;
-the game is currently not avaleble, please try another time.
i think this is because there are to many people on line or so, now i my question;
do i realy have to open the editor this way, is it not possible to start it without going on line. because now it happens to mutch that i can't map when i want to.

a quick way i have found to start hammer is to load steam then use a short cut to hammer i have on my desktop you can find the short cut to hammer in
C:\Program Files\Valve\Steam\SteamApps\youremail\sourcesdk\bin

you might find each time hammer updates for some reason you have to make a new shortcut what can i say that is steam for you.

there is a way to run hl2 offline for lan party's so you might be able to run hammer offline the same way but i can not find that info now it was i think in 1 of the official doc's if you find that it might help.

I got the picture that he meant to put a shortcut on the desktop, go to Play Games and select on the game, click Create Shortcut.

No I was talking about going into your sourcesdk/bin folder and making a shortcut to hammer from there to your desktop that way you only have to start steam not play games then source sdk and then hammer it just saves a bit of time.
I have just found it a more of a direct way to start hammer if that is all you use the sdk for is just mapping why load the full sdk.

yep, there you can find it indead. i have placed it and it works fine. like you said, it could be that it doesn't work anymore when hammer is updated, but than we re-place the shortcut again.

Every time it gives me that error message, I just restart the computer, and it works fine. Don't know why it does that, though :(

No, no. It doesn't happen every time I try to run a program, just happened a couple of times. I'm just saying that every time it DOES happen, a restart of the system clears it up.

glad to hear, because that would take out the fun of mapping.
