OK, I created a cod4 map. I complied the bsp file. The reflection gave me a shaders error but I dont think it matters. My biggest problem is when I try to build the fastfile it gave me the "Ran out of Memory Error.

Assertion Failure
Expression:
(g_streamOutMemory)
("virtualAlloc rturned NULL; may be out of memory") = VirtualAlloc returned NULL; may be out of memory

Module: C:\program files\activision\call of duty 4 - Modern Warfare\bin\linker_pc.exe
File: C:\trees\cod3-pc\cod3\modtools\cod3src\src\database\db_stream_save.cpp
Line: 508

Can you tell me what is the problem? I do have enough ram and hard drive space. Plz help. Thanx.

It maybe caused by your system having little RAM,you could try closing everything not needed (messengers, radiant etc..) this will free up memory and and it to the free pool.

I do have enough ram. I don't use messenger often so I dont have to worry about it. Radiant is not on as well. Nothing is on and it still doesn't work. Thanx though. Anymore suggestions or fixes? Thanx.

I had this problem once, full disk. Removed some stuff and made free space. Problem gone.
A friend of mine had the problem some time later too, he moved the whole modTools folder to a different disk, problem solved.

But it is definetly not that you would have litte ram. Try compiling another map, if it does the same or not. Maybe it is caused by one map only, having too many of something?

This is a rather old topic. It's in the MP section for some reason when I posted it.

Anyways, I posted a solution in the tutorial section.

@CHS

I never tried that solution because I never had a hard drive problem.

To me, it's because the map is too big, scripting errors, calling the wrong vehicles, objects, etc, wrong assets in zone file, etc. All this is in the COD4 tutorial section. These are the only problems that I know of. And fixing those fixed the error. They may not be the actual problems but at least I know once they are fixed, the error is gone.
