So this is a quote of me being annoyed on a previous news post about Brothers In Arms being released::

Quote:
Can't believe I did not read this when I pre-ordered the game, "AVAILABLE : 02/10/2008" .... for the PC LTD Edition on the UBisoft site. (a link which Welshy pointed out to me... so I think my ignorance is his fault... ) Damn.

And now I went back to the site to have a look::

"AVAILABLE 09/10/2008"

I have had no email from Ubisoft telling me of the change in date. Just wondering what is going on and if anyone else ordered from the same site?

Ubisoft

I'm going to send them an angry email along with one to Welshy too lol

Yeah I'm about fed up with the delays also. If I remember right, this game was supposed to be releases March or April 2007 when DX10 was in its early stages, but it has been delay, after delay with this game. Hopefully, this means they are polishing the game a little more and want it to be perfect, but I have said that many times before only to be disappointed.

Oh come on another delay. I looked around and that link I gave you and it definitely said the 2nd of October, I looked around at other sites. www.game.co.uk now says the 10th of October and yeah ubisoft says the 9th(which is my birthday randomly) So I am a bit confused as to what's going on there. You can send me an angry email if you want, I'll put my name on it as well and i'll forward it to ubisoft

Ah nice, plugging your Birthday into the thread so you can get some presents?! Well it was my birthday on Sunday (the 28th) and was hoping BIA would be a late present (from myself).. but it looks like it might be a Christmas present at this rate.

I'm not going to send any angry emails (I've hired some hit men instead!), I honestly don't mind waiting for it to arrive but it's about planning when I need to be home to collect it. I just want that darn action figure...! lol and I turned 20 on Sunday... oh dear.

If it makes you feel any better, the game is quite a disapointment. It's by no mean bad but in my opinion, it could have been updated with all the delays as technology has improved. I have completed the game so i'll give you a very short rundown of what to expect. There are no spoilers here.

If it was released 2 years ago (like it was suppose to) then it would have been classed as 'amazing' graphics, but the revolving 2d textures (all the foliage, look up at a tree, your see the textures revolve to face you, playstation1 anyone?) and the terrible textures pops really let it down, especially the grass which can be drawn no more than a few meters ahead of you, as you approach the 2d texture grows bigger.

The textures though are still very good, everything is very vibrant which somewhat takes away a little of the war atmosphere, and for once the in game graphics seem better than the cutscenes. Water is excellent, you get splashes from you feet, water covers the camera and the rain runs down your gear, impressive.

The AI are terrible stupid, they no longer try to flank or frag you but spend most of the time standing in the open. You squad also fall into this catagory but once there are in position and dug in then they do there job very well. No more tank squads but you have up to 3 squads at one time (assault, mg, base of fire or bazzoka)

The destructable cover is very nice and well done, the brutal decapitation from grenades and headshots are also very good. The missions always seem to be 'destroy the 88' which gets a little repetative but its fun to find way through.

It seems quite easy compared to the first games, you get two difficulties to start, normal or veteran. I ran throguh on vet and dies 2 times in the whole game. You unlock authentic which is much more like it. No hud, crosshairs, suppresion indicators, nothing! You out there with no way to aim (unless looking down the sights) no idea how much ammo you got and whether or not you have suppresed the enemy! Sounds hard? Well it is.

Anyway instead of jabbering on all day closing comments would be, if you compare it to the old games you will be dissapointed, class it as a new game then you will love the single player, though the story does rely on you knowledge of the previous installments. If you buy for MP then you in for a shock, it's great if you find a good squad that talks and wants to play properly, if you don't then the 1 gametype and smalls maps will get boring very fast.

I would give it 7/10, not sure if i would recommend buy as i did because you don't get that 'can't wait to play' feeling and once completed there is very little drive to play through again. The MP may be improved but that will be a wait-to-see situation.

7/10 Is pretty good I guess, you know they are planning on making more BIA games (right through to the end of WW2)?

I know what you mean with the 2d grass textures, that is very outdated... Still looking at screen shots if this game is moddable or if an SDK gets released for it I'll sure as hell make some maps.

I will definitely play through it on Veteran and try not to compare it to the other games in the series, as long as it does not turn out as bad as MOH Airborne! (otherwise I can see myself melting the action figure down and sending it back to Ubisoft in a 6 inch coffin... [eek])

What platform?
Fingers crossed.

Thanks for confirming this game actually exists Rasta. With so many delays, I was beginning to doubt its existence.

Yes it is very much released, I have played on both xbox and PS3, there is not a huge difference, although i prefer the ps3 version as it seems to look a little better in my eyes. The released date varied for usa and europe but they both came out last week.

Well I preordered the game at my local 'Game' store and received double reward points on my loyalty card! *whoo*.....

Anyway, the game was meant to be released Friday 26th here, but when I went in to pick up my new game on the day I was told that the store hadn't received it's stock of the PC version, but there were plenty of console versions.

TBH, I don't fancy paying the extra £10 for a console version that has a more limited lifespan so I guess I'm gonna have to wait the extra time. This new date in Oct is taking things a bit to far though.

BTW, Is there still the ability to turn the suppression indicators off from the menu without playing on authentic, as I find they detract from the whole immersion of the game. Seen as you need to complete the game before playing on authentic it would be nice to have the option again.
