For a long time now I have wanted to start a Half-Life 2 modification, but only recently have I felt that I was prepared for starting one. My biggest fear was starting a mod, which like so many others, which died out virtually straight away. Well am now in a position in which I feel confident and have the ability to make a mod work. I can provide a website; hosting and I have the idea locked away in my head. What I really need are 1 or 2 people who would like to join me and help form a brilliant idea for a mod and help get it off the ground.
From that stage we would get in concept artists and start painting the pictures that were in our heads and finalizing the plot. Then we would go public and start the process of modeling/mapping/coding etc.
I’ll tell you all now my basic idea for the mod, but this is only a very basic idea and is far from being set in stone:
The setting is modern day Britain; but the history we are used to is different. Ireland never split in 2, Scotland and Wales never joined with England to form the UK. What we are left with is 4 very different nations. During the year 2000 terrorists start targeting areas around Britain, this escalates to full out war between the 4 nations, each one fighting to survive.
The reason I chose this idea was that the weapons could be realistic, and very accurate for England, but for the other nations the modelers could have a lot of freedom and create their own, realistic, weaponry. I also felt that each nation could have a special characteristic. If you look back at the history books you will notice that Wales was famous for its Longbow men, I obviously came to the conclusion that Wales should be especially skilled at using sniper rifles, and other long range weaponry.
As you can see this is a very basic idea, so that is why I really need 1 or 2 people to join me and help create an outstanding mod for Half-Life 2. If you are interested or would just like to ask me something send an email to richwilliams04@gmail.com .
Thanks for your time
Rich.
