I am trying to build a HL2DM map with a crane. I followed two different tuts (they both do the same) and created the crane and magnet and stuff, but the moment a run the map in HL2DM the crane is gone. I have tried creating the crane with entity types "prop_vehicle_crane" and "prop_vehicle_drivable". But it does not work.

Secondly, in the tuts the authors use the mdl file "models/Cranes/crane_docks.mdl", but I only have a file named "models/Cranes/crane_docks.jpg". Would this be the problem?

Please help.

Thx

I AM AN IDIOT... I supose the source engine chucks away textures if your PC is low on resources, or at least this is what happend in my case. If I have Hammer and HL2DM open at the same time, then complex textures are left off the map in HL2DM.

Sorry if I have wasted anybodys time with my own idiocity.

In the original Half-Life, although I can't say I have seen it in a while, but what would happen was every now and then entities (and I think non-entities as well) would disappear based on the server payload when a map was loaded, but like I said it doesn't happen frequently so maybe it carries into Source a similar problem (or perhaps not a problem).

I think actually it could have been a couple things, for instance just a fluke since you were running both at once...can't say I've had anything like that happen while running both the editor and the game, so who knows...you should probably report it, though.
