this is in the error log after compiling

"C:\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare\map_source\mp_mymap.map" 0 1105 1721 1688 114 -1 -0 -0 "surface 'me_fence_chainlink_wire' is partially floating or needs to be aligned"

I see 8 coordinates, how do I find the item in question? or are they all not coordinates?

You can open your .map file in Notepad and do a search for one of the numbers that way. 1688 for instance. Write down the brush number which goes with it, open your map in Radiant again and select the brush via the misc->find brush menu.

My understanding is, while partially floating textures are undesirable, they have no adverse effect on your map or the gameplay. This often occurs with decals and textures that contain transparency, but it is not a real problem.
Saying that, there is nothing wrong with trying to correct the problem. [wink]

I ran into that problem when I tried to use a patch instead of a brush for the chain link texture. I found that the error messages disappeared when I made a nodraw decal brush (one unit thick) and textured both sides with the chain link fence texture.
