I've created a map with a loadscreen. The problem I'm having is that I'm getting the red figure when in game. I know that usually results when the zone files are not updated. Well, I did update the zone file but when I tried to run the map from the editor to check the results...I get a message stating "Couldn't load image 'mp_rdx_desert_front'.

Any ideas why I can't run the map from the editor after creating a loadscreen. I had this same issue on an earlier map, but I never had to update it ....so it wasn't an issue.

Thanks in advance for any help!

After you updated your zonefile, did you rebuild your Fast File?
And can you show us the content of your zonefile please?

Thanks Caretaker for the response. The issue isn't so much the red figure in game....I can usually resolve that. My main issue is that I cannot run the map from the editor now that I've added a loadscreen. When running the game from the editor, I get the above mentioned error and the game quits.

Here is my zone file:

that isnt ur loadscreen fella...i had this problem without the loadscreen as i tested map.. yes u updated ur zones but didn u manually place in the 3 codes on the 2nd image from here?:

http://www.modsonline.com/Tutorials-read-434.html

weapons etc etc and zmodel hands...

if you check ur code u will see u dont have these just manully type them in and it should run fine thats how i sorted mine...

Loadscreen is another thing lol
i have problems with this as i follow the tut but i carnt getthe loadscreen to run.. says: error could not load the image loadscreen_hue_2008 so im pooped with that lol...
im just gonna place banners in and and have no minimap and loadscreen as i carnt get them to work! :)

well hope that code worked for u fella...

remove material,loadscreen_mp_rdx_desert_front from your zone and rebuild your ff also comment out //maps\mp\_compass::setupMiniMap("compass_map_mp_rdx_desert_front"); from your map.gsc the only way i know to test maps with images is run them from a mods folder but if your not running a mod do as i posted above and when the map is done then add your loadscreen and mini map then rebulid your ff [cool]

The game don't read files from the raw folder. So the images you've created (like your loadscreen) must be in an .iwd file.
Create a new folder on your desktop and call it images. Then put the .iwi file of your loadscreen in it. After that, zip the new images folder (the whole folder, not only the .iwi in it). Rename this zip file to mp_yourmapname.iwd and put it in the folder Mods/custommaps in your CoD4 folder.
In the CompileTools check the box at 'Use Custom Command Line Options' and type the following in the line under:
+set fs_game mods/custommaps

Now you will be able to run your map from the CompileTools with working loadscreen.
If you have done your map, the iwd-file from Mods/custommaps will go with the fastfiles of your map in the folder usermaps/mp_yourmapname.

I got my mp_dust.iwi file in: raw\images\ folder
Quote:
when converting the image I got 2 errors:
first one:
************ ERROR ************ file 'D:\Games\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare\model_export\modern_weapons\m4_m16\weapon_m4_col.tga' not found

second one:
************ ERROR ************ Could not find source file 'D:\Games\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare\materialfactory/layers_common_setup.csv' ************ ERROR ************ Couldn't read file 'D:\Games\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare\materialfactory/layers_common_setup.csv'

raw\maps\mp_dust.csv
Code:

victoryBackdrop,$default
defeatBackdrop,$default
levelBriefing,loadscreen_mp_dust

I put the mp_dust.iwi file in mp_dust.iwd file (images/mp_dust.iwi) and put it in Mods/custommaps/

Maybe I'm missing something but I getting irritated by this...
I have read that you have to put the mp_dust.csv file in the mp_dust.iwd file.. but witch one? I got 5 diffrent mp_dust.csv files.

1) \zone_source
2) \raw\maps
3) \zone_source\english\assetinfo
4) \zone_source\english\assetlist
5) \assetgtchache\raw\raw\maps

and where do I have to put the mp_dust.csv file in my mp_dust.iwd file.? in a map or just in the root of the iwd file.??

I hope someone can find the error I made?!

thanks
