i played around with this a little bit, and came up with an interesting thing

using the fx creator/editor for jk2 (which i uploaded to the downloads section a while ago) i created a custom fx of text and gave it a light value

looping the effect with a random wait time made it blink at a random interval (kinda like a cheesy neon sign in a movie) [angryalien]

stryder,

i really appreciate your help. EffectsEd of jk2editingtools is quite helpful for a shader-noob like me  thanks alot for this.
i tried to learn from other tutorials about the use of EffectsEd and found some really helpful tutorials. although i still get many "no shader files found in..." errors when i start the program (yes, i have shaderfiles in my shaders directory for jk2ed). but nevertheless i can open most of the cod-shaders now. it's more naggy than really disturbing. only a few shaders don't work in EffectsEd. i think my problem is that i don't have a shaderlist.txt file (as you know: cod doesn't need it) and i don't know the content of this file.... don't bother... i don't neither
atm i'm experimenting with different light emitters and their values and be hopefully soon back with some satisfying results.

cheers
skywalker [devilishgrin]
