hey im a pretty new mapper and ive watched al;l the video tutorials but theres still a couple things that im not clear how to do that is pretty crucial to what im working on right now

- is there any way to rotate textures once there on a brush??

- and how do they make bombed out buildings? ive got no bloody idea , i know it involves the clipper tool but all i can do is make clean cuts, not the jagged cuts id like to make

anyways if anyone can help me i'd appreciate it thanks [smokin]

Hi m8, to rotate textures, highlight the texture in 3d view hover mouse over selected texture press and hold right mouse button and hold down Ctrl + Alt and move mouse.

To make damaged walls etc just keep clipping,, dont , please dont use csg subtract.

thanks man, but for the bombed out buildings, ive seen walls with a U shape chunk out of em, i just dont know how to do that , i can make clean cuts with the clipper Ex take a rectangle and clip it in to a triangle, but how do i make the jagged cuts?
the only thing i can think of is do the clean cuts but use a lot of diferent brushes together?

thats how you do it...but beware of which brushes you clip and for what reason....a brush with a dimension smaller than 1 is an infinite brush and the quake engine (compiler) dont like tham at all

*hint - try adjusting your grid setting down a size or 2

If you want to use the clipper to the max remember that lil slope formula from math class all you need is two points (to make a line). You can place the points outside of what your cutting to generate any kind of arc your cutting out..... I think you can figure the rest out... [smokin] oh and also hit shift+enter to generate the splice
