I ran into a few snags 1.Iused the glass/shader to make glass but it looks like a slab of steel 2.I made a train but I cant seem to make it more than just a slab and is thair a way to rotate it? 3.I got this brush error or leak is what it really is but usually when i get a leak i follow the red line and fix it but thair isnt one how do I find it or just fix it? 4.when I first started maping I had to use light ents for lighting but now I have completely lit maps with no light sources on my map I used the /give all as was suggested but it didn't help 5. my screen shots never come out in the game I use a converter to make them .jpgs I even kept them .tga but thay still never show...thank you for reading my post

Ok I went back and took a second look at my shader/glass I only have one and it doesnt have a white box around it.
is somthing wrong with my GTKRadiant?

WOW, 1 thing at a time... It's so much easier if you make seperate topics... [lol]

1-slab of steel is the shader hasn't made the "steel" looking texture translucent. -shader issue-

2-I assume it can be a func_group, aswell as a func_train. I'll get back to you.

3-The leak line could be really really short, so you don't see it, I usually cut the map in half, and half again, until I find the piece with the error if it's so big that you can't find it easy.

4-Is part of 3, if your map leaks, it won't run the VIS or the LIGHT stages.

5-I never had issues with SS, need more info, is it making a 0 k file, or is it all black???

You also won't see a leak line if the entity causing the leak is outside the sealed area or if you are missing a player spawn point.

Shaders are either perfect or bad, theres no, it kindof works.

I'm sure GTK is fine, it's more likely your shader isn't in the shaderlist or is not proper.

1 example of a bad shader is RBG instead of RGB.

Ok a friend made me a glass shader and as for the leak I believe it was do to a pre fab light wich was poking threw a wall I moved it and it fixed it and for the light issue Im still up in the air but I believe its do to the skie/shader im told some of them emit light so

If your getting a "full bright" level, it's probably failing the -light phase, there should be shadows somewhere if only the sky is producing light, as the "sun" is only in 1 spot, even if it was directly overhead, the farther away from center you get, the more angle the shadows will have.

If the sky did not emit light, and the -light phase was proper, you'd have a pitchblack level.

The only other way to make a full bright map with the -light phase running is the key/values in worldspawn (_minlight/*, ambient/*) if either of those are set high enough you don't need other lights as you get the full bright effect in addition to any other lights. I mention this incase you "cheated" and haven't gone back to undo it.

Best bet is too use a stock sky that you know works, make sure your map is good, and then find the error with the new sky, once your certain it is indeed the sky, and not something else.

Ok I tried swiching skies but I still get the same thing and now im missing walls to that I know i put in ;(
