Would like to make some walls, trees and other object capable of climbing.

so far it is a hit and miss sort of thing. Sometimes I can't climb a rope at all. Other times, I can get to the top but can't get over the top.

Assistance would be appreciated

u will kick urself once u work this one out

its really easy

1. make the object u want to climb (its best if its vertical but not essential)
2. in the texture filter select usage> tools

3. find the ladder texture


4. create a brush with that texture that is slightly bigger than the object u want to climb... (or many brushes if u want)

5. compile and climb

there is a tutorial too....click some of the buttons on the left there :)

Just to note that if you try to use this method for anything other than a ladder if may look very strange because of the player animations, for example a rope, the player would look like he is climbing a ladder therefore miss the rope entirely.

Another way/method exists?

I had some issues with my released map on Linux servers, due to the width of the ladders being too narrow, so even if you are doing a rope, you want to make it at least 34 units wide.

Thanks, works for almost everything except a down spout in a corner of a building. Trying to make a lot of roofs accessible.
The down spout is an inside corner of course.

If I made the rope any thinner, it would disappear..lol....hmmm
