I was just wondering, is there a way to cut out a circle easily? Like create a cyllender then push it through the brush you want to cut out and click a button and then the shape of the cyllender in the brush has been cut out? Or do you just have to draw loads of points? Sorry if this has already been answered but I did a search and found nothing.

Becuase I've made a well and I don't know how to put it in the ground without the ground blocking the shaft.

Thanks

Using a cylinder as a template and clipping away around the edges of a brush works fine.

If you want automation, draw out a square brush, and then select "Brush > Arbitrary sided cylinder" from the menu bar.

Select your brush again then go to "Selection > CSG > Hollow" from the menu bar.

Delete the top and bottom brushes and miter all of the remaining sides. Hopefully you don't get any brush errors.

Just make a basic cyllinder patch, use the Patch > Thicken command to convert it into a 3D tube instead of a cyllindrical mesh, then just position it where you want on the ground (this is your basic well). Create an end cap (Patch > Primitives > Endcap) that is half the size of the outer cyllinder of your well & then select Patch > Cap then select Inverted Endcap. Take the top inverted endcap you have just created (the one with the upwards facing texture) & duplicate it for each side of the well & level it with the ground. This allows you to have the well fit into a square hole in the terrain with the inverted endcaps filling in the gaps. You could do it with brushes but I always find it gets very messy when having multiple cut brushes & I personally prefer working with patches wherever possible.
