So I tried to figure out how to make cool staircase railings like the ones below from Creek, it didnt work out as planned and I think i was doing it all wrong, can someone make a tuturial or just fill me in on the technique or command used to make the railings other than trying to weld together simple curve patches? Thanks!

I want to try and avoid using models- trying to be creative is there a technique or command that can help in the process?

misc_models/cs_handrail_double for example, therers a whole list. If you make stair cases with those railing then you must make a pretty steep staircase in my opinion. Anyways good luck.

what other way would you think there is? curve patches if you want to make it yourself, and models if you dont... theres only those two options...

Make a model. Geometry from radiant can be exported to model programs. (I believe so anyway)

The steep stair case in the models isnt that steep.. if you rotate it.

patch primitives> cylinder is a good starting block. Then another patch or brush for the base and top. The railings are probably brushes.

Looks like patch--> cone and then manipulation of vertices, and possibly increasing complexity with shift [ (or shift ] can't remember). Then just simple circle patches and thickening them for the base.

Also when joining a curve or a circle patch like a simple pipe to a cone, don't worry about welding stuff or getting it to perfectly align, as long as stuff "looks" joined no one will know your curve patch actually sticks down 4 units into the cone ;)
