Well I read what stryder has said. I dont think it will be popular. I heard that you actually have to have a windows live account to play online which is by month, if anyone can get any info on this would be great. I will not get this game if there is a monthly fee. If you look at all the WW2 games today there all mostly dying off rapidly. Also if you look at COD4, Crysis, and many others are still thriving.

monthly fee? I seriously doubt that, you normally only get fees with mmo's. There is still so much morea WW2 game can do, personally i love the genre and get bored with the modern era too quickly (that why cod4 is gathering dust)

They should explore the pacific, maybe also target specific ww2 battles or vietnam, it's not just the concept of shooting nazi's (or japanese) over and over, its experiencing parts of the war for yourself. Also much more fact based (since we know the results) than the modern era..

I totally agree with Rasta on this.

Many in the community have been clamouring for years for the Call of Duty series to make the leap from the European theatres of operation to something new. The jump to a more Pacific area is long overdue in my and many peoples opinion.

Modern Warfare was fun. It took on current day locations, weapons, issues etc. For the most part it was well done.

Stryder wrote a very well written and informative account of what he and others were given by Treyarch. I do look forward to seeing some of the things described come to life. If even half of what was described comes to life in the new release then I think that we will all be very impressed with what is being offered this time around.

Color me excited to experience this latest in a very successful franchise.

about the montly fee, i'm sure that only is for Xbox users, there is no way they would be so foolish to make PC players pay for a shooter game, only mmo geeks are stupid enough to fall for that...

and yes, WW II still is the one thing with most options, if you look at it theoritcally, you could cover 5 years of battling from the point of view of millions of soldiers all over the world...
which leaves us with millions of hours of possible gameplay to be covered, i left the CoD series because of the letdown of CoD 3, and then the slap in the face of going to modern warfare, (which i hate since BF 2, and other shoot up middle eastern terrorist like games). It's wise to go back to WW II imo, a lot of people like it, and there still is so much left to be told

LOL I love comment about cod4 thriving . . . its hasnt been out that long. Plus my clan has gotten close to getting rid of it because it was boring, and couldnt play custom maps for the longest time.

People are still playing Cod1, Cod:UO, and COD2 all which are WW2. Eventually yes the games will phase out but not at this moment.

I believe Cod5 will be a good game because of the change of location in particular, but also because they plan on having a co-op mode, mp vehicles . . .

its like killjoy said, ww2 is still by far the most populair genre to be played, also after cod4. u hear it more and more around that people getting tired of the middle east scene or when a custom map is been released its mostlikely " oh no, not another middle map"
Though the most popular side is still americans/british vs the germans.
i kinda got slapped in the face with the japanese scene when moh: rising sun or pacific assault, that was a complete failure, then again, that was EA wich are know to mess a game up.
I hope this one gonna be much better but after listening to the special episode of modsonair i have no doubts they will.

We'll see for popularity tbh. But I am quite appealled by the idea of the online co-op feature that CoD5 seems to offer. don't really care when the historical background as long as I can find something that is NOT future (not a big fan of BF2142/Halo/...).

Ive been waiting for a co-op feature for a long time, use to play Rainbow Six: Rogue Spear with friend in junior high and we would do co-op.

And with the inclusion of some vehicles that perks my interest even more cuz there is no reason to have explosives like a rocket or satchel if there isnt a tank, or jeep to blow up.
