Does anyone know how I can set up my server to have fast auto downloads? I have an ftp (my website) that I can host the maps from, which is what I assume you do.

I was in a server earlier that I downloaded maps at 200+ kbs from and I would like to be able to have similar speeds on my CoD:UO server.

Thanks in advance for any help.

you have to set it up in your .cfg (ftp address) and then places the files in their usable form on your ftp one step down from the required directory [angryalien]

Hi, can someone show me a sample of how this ftp downloading is set up in a servers config file? What folder(s) do I put the maps in when placing them in my ftp server and what the general line of code is for the config file?

Thanx :)

I tried best I could to get this to work, but it wont... Not sure what i'm doing wrong, hope someone is nice enuf here to help out.

Heres what i've done so far:

seta sv_wwwDownload "1"
seta sv_wwwBaseURL "http://toxic-army.com/downloads/cod/"
seta sv_wwwDlDisconnected "1"

the website listed in sv_wwwBaseURL is my clan website's cod downloads folder. We link to this folder from our website for our website download section. That is where i've placed all the raw map files for server downloading. And yes they are all in .pk3 form, not zipped or anything. They are located inside the /cod/ folder. So, what am I doing wrong here?

Please help?

Also, I'm not sure if I should set sv_allowDownload to 1 or 0 when using the ftp/http downloading, anyone know???

thanx [wink]

Well i dunno, i'm stumped, I just cant get this to work...

I've been messin with it for a few hours, moved all my map files to the root directory at my http website but still no luck at all... heres what I have:

//HTTP Redirect Downloads
set sv_allowDownload "1"
set sv_wwwDownload "1"
set sv_wwwBaseURL "http://toxic-army.com/"
set sv_wwwDlDisconnected "1"

all my map files are in the root directory of the url above, http://toxic-army.com/brest.pk3 for example will let you download that file rite away. I just cant get the server to redirect it's downloads to this url for some stinkin reason lol. I'm not sure what to set the allowdownload at either like I said b4... I had every thing set at "seta" also, but no luck, so I set it to "set" to see if it would make a difference but it didnt... I need help :*(

Hello there,

Try looking @ the server log or connecting with a client on a map that you know will need to be downloaded. On my server, the directory of the file in the COD directory was appended to the base URL. Ie in cfg ...baseurl="blahblah/cod/files" but the url that was being passed to the client was "blahblah/cod/files/uo/".

It wasnt' until I looked closely at the url for redirect that I caught the problem on my server.

oops, screwed up the last post...

try this Krunch

Where the maps are on the server:
c:/program files/Call of duty/UO

Where the maps are on your site:
ftp://what.ever.com/call of duty/maps/uo (anything here...aslong as the UO is there.

What to put down for url below:
ftp://what.ever.com/call of duty/maps (the folder before UO).

set sv_allowdownload "1"
set sv_dl_maxRate "84000"
set sv_wwwDownload "1"
set sv_wwwDlDisconnected "1"
set sv_wwwBaseURL "http://your.site.com/dir before UO/"
