on my question of how to get the light editor to open i get the answer that this only is possible when the editor is not fullscreen but in a smaller window. i have looked into preference and projectsettings to see if there is something that i have to change to make this possible, but i can't find it. i have tried to make the editor open in a window by clicking in the upper right toolbar, on the button for making the screen in a window or fullscreens. but this doesn't help. the editor stays fullscreen.
so, how can i make that the editor is not fullscreen?

3 ways..

- when the game is open, you can type in the console:
- r_fullscreen 0
- vid_restart
- you can change the game preferences to open in a windowed mode instead of fullscreen (recommended method)
- you can create a .cfg file that forces the game to open windowed uplon loading of the game everytime. (details ... in this forum somewhere and I can find them if you can't).

thanks for the explanation Foyleman,
i have tried:
- r_fullscreen 0
- vid_restart
this helps, i than see doom3 the game in a window in front of 2 screens of the editor, the top window and the texture window. but the colors are wrong, there very light. so than i looked into that other (recommandet) way. changing it in the game preference. maybe a silly question, but where can i find that one. i looked in the preference of the editor but there i can't find something about fullscreen, etc. but i think you don't mean that preference because you're talking about Game preference. would you please explane this a bit more?

please help, i did open doom editor again after typing

but now the editor stays like that. i can open the lighteditor indead, and that's great. but the colors are all wrong. and that's not even the biggest problem, that is that the grid of the top vieuw is now gone. in this way it's nearly impossible to work. how can i undo that

and find the game preference??

The fullscreen change is adjusted from the game options...

Load the game (not editor).
Click Options
Click System
There is an option there called Fullscreen

As for the colors.. hmmm. I don't know what causes that. I know it has come up before, but I don't know the solution.

thanks Foyleman, i should have known that i could find that under systhems. indead, it did work great. that is, still the colors are sh*t. and that wouldn't be a problem, i could work with that. but the main problem is, like i already wrote before, that you can't see the grid anymore.
i understand that you have heart from this problem before but can't tell me why this happens and what to do about it.
maybe someone else knows how to change this?
i have desided to work for now with the editor in fullscreen mode, and when i need a lighteffect than i change the fullscreen mode so i can open te lighteditor.
another little question of mine is that i have seen in a tutorial video that it is possible to make the 3d window in the editor so that he shows how it realy looks in gamemode. i will look into systhem again, because i couldn't find it in the editor itself. can you otherwise tell me how to change this 3d vieuw when it's not under systhem.
