really sad to hear this =(

back in my round of modscon there were only 3 maps sent in, but 3 good, nicely finished and above all UNRELEASED maps. specially looking at the dates they were released, was it really that hard to wait one month more for release ??

but i do agree a bit that 2 months is quite short, it would be for me, cause of schoolwork and all that not a lot of time is left for mapping. probly that also brings down the number of submissions. I would go more for an annual event of MODScons, having a pretty much fixed period when they end. mappers then can see them coming for a year to come. i've tried entering multiple modscons already (the first 3 ones i think) , but i only managed to get a map ready for the second one, with some luck that i had a running project halfly done.
So i really think time is a big issue in the amount of submissions

Greetings KilLjoY

Time constraints have already been a problem with me. I have 3 unfinished maps from past modsons that I have yet to finish.

This modscon I for some reason missed the start date [duh] Only started my map around the 20th Feb. I was mapping quite nicelly, had target date in site and as with all other maps...day to day life interviened.

Shame there were not more entrys but ah well. It happens!

I owuld have loved to enter my map into the contest, but unforunately, there just wasnt enough time. I am new to Radiant and it has taken this long to get proficient enough with it to make a decent map. On top of that I still can't get a load screen to work.

Hi all, reading the above comments has brought to my attention that the Modscon 08 competition has already been won by a guy called Carcass....

1st of all, well done mate, although you won by default, you still won, and that ( in my humble opinion ) is worth its weight in words. Cherish it. Your the man of the moment lol.

Secondly, and the bit that made me post this reply to this topic is.... that i too submitted a map, and i saw it on the front page of modsonline for a couple of days, but unfortunatley it hasnt been mentioned as the others above, have.

Would this mean that my submission was incorrect and the modsonline guys couldnt view it, or was it just that .... " it didnt cut the mustard lol " ?

Ive put the map on my own dedicated server at home and im trying to get it online ( details below ).... and if my submission was incorrect.... maybe thats why im having problems launching it.

Would you guys kindly inform me of " why " it hasnt been mentioned ..... go easy on me if its that bad lol....

server name <<>> Test Server
map name mp_the-cave
ip address 82.44.26.244:28960

Shimm,
How was your map submitted? Was it submitted using the online submission form as was required? All submitted entries are saved in a central location and the necessary people are notified when that happens. We received 5 entries and none of them contained the word 'cave'.

I'd like to find out what happened with that.

Hi Foyleman,

Yes i submitted it twice actually, my first upload was about 44mb as i accidentally sent it up whilst zipped incorrectly, and then i did it again with an apology lol.

the map is called mp_the-cave and if you type that into your search box itll pop up my second submission ie the correct one.

Sorry about all the fuss lol

Ah, but uploading a map to the website is not the same as submitting it to the contest. The contest has a special submission link. That might have been the problem.

Well i definatley did as i was told, i remember going to the page explaining the rules etc and it had a link there with a text editor that i had to fill in and send with my map, and i followed the steps guide by guide ( twice )

I even went to the t shirt page to pick my t-shirt in case i won lol

So, for your information and clarity, i DEFINATELY, uploaded it the way you guys asked.

And so?

Are we up to the NEXT one or what?

dam!... I though I was on time to submit mine to MODscon but I wasnt,
and I still have lot of work to do with my map.

I think no one worked all the 10 weeks on their maps, and the one who started working, still on it.

cince most of of us dont get paid for it, working on free time, a good/original/ well finished map, dont come that easy. and dont eve mention
how long takes to solve radiant unspected surprices.
