Please read this thread often as it will be updated, as required, with any news pertaining to the contest.

Info:

1. Site Admins and CoD Forum Moderators are now considered on the Judges bench and will not be allowed to receive any of your contest map files that require fixing. You can however get help from others in the CoD forums. As much as we want to help out it just isn't on the fair side if you get my meaning.

2. Please do not PM Admins and Moderators in ref to the contest. We encourage you to use this forum.

WoW!!! I like this so much this contest, but have somequestions:

- I live in europe, now i don't compete for prices, but is that a prob, else i would love to compete but not for prices.

-Is this for example a prob: I have scripts i didn't make, but i have them from tutorials and other maps, i adjusted them a bit so it is how i wanted it, but it is not my own work, like the rotate script of roger abrahamsson (from teh radar in mp_stanjel)I use that one for the windmill that is rotating in mp_stcomedumont, or the door scripting with sounds.

i ahve more but can come up with it have to go to school now but anyway the contest is so great!!! and I also want to thank you that StComeduMont_beta (Lt.J.Snellius and my beta version of mp_stcomedumont) is in the november mappack :casanova: [tongue] it was so weird when i saw that yesterday on the mainpage. and btw mp_stcomedumont won't have those nasty bugs atleast not so big and much, but we released it to soon but hope we can fix that with mp_stcomedumont for ya guys!!!

i have a few questions as well...

1) can i use textures from UO or from custom UO maps or am i limited to using CoD textures only?

2) does my map HAVE to be historically accurate?

3) does my map need to support all of the "factions" ? (americans, british, russians)

i hope you wouldnt have to have american brit and russian in the map...my map is of town were the russian never went...only brit and american where there...oh yeah and italians and germans

Scripts are like a prefab, not everyone can make scripts or prefabs, so use them. We would just like to see maps created from scratch and built completely by the originator.

As for entering the contest, go for it, the worse thing that happens is you win something that you get to give away as a present to some needy person. That's something that you have to answer.

@ thmapper

As to the texture issue - read above, textures stand in the same line as prefabs, models and scripts. I know I would rather see textures from the standard CoD but I do know that the UO textures have some descent one that can be used.

Historically accurate is a simple way of saying, make sure you don't place that hummvee next to the willies jeep. Just try to keep things simple.

Your map should support the standard red on green. If you want the Yanks going after the Germans or UK Forces going after the Germans that again, is up to you. But green on green or red on red would be a bad thing. (I'm sure it might have happened but not intentionally)

I'm surprised to see so many posts without people asking what the project entails: rules etc. theme?!?

So I presume theyre somewhere else?

Note:

I have had many major problems with COD rad --> mainly that the qe4 files screws up the program, and I have to use regedit to delete codrad's histiry everytime... because of this, I never bothered with cod mapping... reckon I might have some tricks up my sleave though :)

a contest.... hmmm might get me going!
