XP... think I got it working now though.... I guess my folders got deleted somehow so I simply reinstalled them and it appears to be working.

Or not... it seemed to make the minimap fine, I run it, update the zone, fast compile, annnnnnnd. Error. CoD4 shuts down and all I see is a little "error" tab at the bottom of the screen. No details, nothing. Even when I run developer I get nothing.

Silly double post....
The problem is that the error appears behind your window. If you right click it, you can select move and move it with your arrow keys to a visible area.

That error message will be saying...

failed to load image 'compass_map_mapname'

which is the exact same place that im currently in, where does the image file need to go again?

Couldn't load image compass_map_mp_backlotextreme

Hmm, where does this iwi file go to and where should it be? Could that be the issue?

You will need to make sure your zone file contains this line:
material,compass_map_mp_backlotextreme
(Another backlot map? :( lol)

The .iwi (image file) can be found in cod4/raw/images.

It needs to be into a folder called images and then packed into a zip file that is renamed mp_backlotextreme.iwd

On a server that file will go in the usermaps directory. When testing it yourself you will put it into the folder of the mod you are testing with. (Once you have a loadscreen and/or a minimap you must test the map from within a mod)

To run it from a mod, run the game normally and go to Mods. Choose the mod that you put your iwd file into and launch it. Then you can use /map or /devmap to run/test your map.

Also you can run the mod directly from the COD4 Tools Launcher by adding
+set fs_game "Mods/CustomMaps/"
to the custom parameters portion of the launcher (in the bottom left)

Yes another backlot map... but this one is twice as big with a blackhawk insertion for the attackers. Its pretty awesome :)

PS: Didn't help but I will do more research before posting again.

same with me, I have the line in the csv, I've converted the image to an iwi, made an IWD with images/compass.. and placed it in the modwarfare folder and tried running it through that and the same, I swear i'm never bothering with cod4 mapping after these contests are over
