i can make minimaps in fact 2 differnt ways but the loadscreens always error and crashes ive made 25 to date and the last one i hit f 11 and it destroyed the game and mapper had to compleately reinstall game and tools,took all this weekend

LOSwally - thanks i will try and help as much as i can and yes the loadscreens do work on v1.5 idk about earlier versions. Colmac can you type all ur steps exactly as u did them, so that we can see if we can help you out? i say we because i am not only counting myself, but others that can help as well.

loadscreens always worked. Since v1.5 custom images have to be inside of a iwd archive and you have to run server modded (any mod, even and empty folder in Mods/ works).

i have been all over trying to find out why i cant get the loadscren to work and i cant remember the thread but one thread did states that loadscreens and minimaps dont work but it must have been wrong and thanks for putting me right on this subject guys ...

and i think it would be really helpful to others should anyone be able to direct us on how to do them correctly ...

i'm glad i reborn this thread and it seems funny to me now how it all happened but also displays friendship and unity how others are prepared to use their spare time in helping others ..

as all mappers know mapping can get pretty frustrating at times and to help others when they reach that point where they are ready to uninstall everything and give up is to me awesome... i will help anyone wherever and whenever i can always and to meet others who share the same view as i do is sweet so i would also like to say a huge thank you to all who do help which i have to say is the larger proportion of people on modsonline ...

same here...

every way known i have dozens of dds and tga i have so many loadscreens i had to just deleted everything including my game and mapper and start over sunday night made new dds and tga tryed it say dds out of date tryed tga and nothing hit f11 third time now map compiler says missing sounds list is pages now i will have to delete the game and mapper again:( and start over ,im a mapper been doing it for yrs ive made many loadsreens for cod duty2 takes about 10 min from photoshop to iwi easy as pie i have 3 pc's i kill my amd xp pro last week said fk it pulled the ram and put all my ram in 1 intel 8400 my emachines will lock up if i even try its xp home
my intel is vista 64 bit bisness 8 gigs ram gtx 720 "570.00 dollar card
it maps like a dream it compiles faster than anything i have ever seenmakes ff files in 10 seconds or less ,full compiles take 45 mins. on 65 mb map. makes loadsrcreens easy "have done this on all 3 pc's if you hit f11 it destroys the game" ,i know, i have now reinstalled over 11 times this month all because i followed the tut forward and backwards
the tut is the same as cod 2
as for the minimap was having trouble because i was using my own courner and they were wrong put in the prefabs compiled and made a working minimap in about 10 minutes
i have made 50 or more post fill like a noob now about to just go to a differnt game ,only thing i can figger out is the photoshop wont do cod4 loadscreens i go to infi ward as well no help there i spend 3/4 of my time helping people map and script and can help on 90% of all errors because ive had them and fixed them my self but this loadscreen make no sence anymore becuase of thios i stoped mapping last month and have done nothing but help people then try again WHAT EVER YOU DO DONT HIT F 11 i know dozens of people that have this sounds error when making there ff files becuase of it
"save as dds alfa ,save as dds dx5,save as dds dx3 ,save as tga ,nomit map , make mit map ,assets manage 2d ,none tryed it all formats mitx2 no mit map nothing,it makes loadscreen 90% of the time none work in my game in my server or in my compiler
runing DAZED&CONFUZED servers for a couple of years" im the owner"made dazedwarfare mods that rank even made tra_mod as well as help many server admin", i will say this every tut for loadscreens is missing 1 or more thing's
and you have to look at a couple to get it
think some people are accidently doing it right the rest of us are out of luck

i c that u are really fustrated with it trying to work....i will try to make a picture of some sort to help clear this out. I say try because i am kinda busy atm with many things, school, work, tests, and mapping =D but yes i will try and help you with a picture, maybe just maybe that can help clear up a few things.

i think you hit the nail on the head colmac and are exactly right there ... some people are hitting onto it by accident i follwed the wiki tutorial and when using the run converter it says coversion failed due to 2 errors ... doesnt list the stupid things just tells me they are there ...

when i check all the new files the converter should create they are all there so i think maybe the errors are nothing to do with my loadscreen so i contine

i've done it about 10 times now and even followed what void said to the word ... yet still no joy ..

i recompile the map from the start and the map wont even run anymore this is what i get ...



so unless i can undo what i have done then it looks like i have lost my map which is another 3 months gone .. but if i do i would like to say thanks to all who have helped me on here and a fond farewell because i will not be doing mapping anymore ...

cod4 = awesome game with lots of fun

cod4 mapping = heartache ,misunderstanding ,and one screwed up program to run it all
