does anyone know how to make a given brush act like a movaeble object such as a box that can be kicked around etc...

ie --> is there an entity that can be assigned to a brush that gives it this interactive effect??

else I can achieve what I want by crazy binding of brushes to hidden movable_whatever entities... but as you can guess ---> this is slightly less direct, and less desireable than what i want!! (and relatively flawed!!! :P)

thanks,

bam

If you need more help on that, check out the test maps that are hidden in the pak files that came with the game. Just extract all the map files and you should find what I am talking about. There is a map with ALOT of these boxes piled on top of each other that id made as a test.

ahhh cool... thanks :)... I'll check em out...

I was trying to make a collapsable shelving system... Man, I'm getting alot of bugs with the physics for the longer thin/flat objects (I think its more suited to boxes/more equal dimensions)...

Like serious bugs too!!! I have centred origins and made them at the bottom of the brushes (which was my first thought), but the shelves dont seem to know which way to go!... In fact if you stand on them, and move, it begins to levitate as it tries to roll over, and if balanced, will levitate to the ceiling (with you on it) :

These objects also have a tendancy to fall through the floor when the system collapses!

I'm wondering if this idea might need some thinking over :(

Now onto my next moveable plan... tactical rolling of burning barrels by shooting out there supports...!?! [biggrin]

I had problems with collapsable platforms too. You could carefully walk across them even if there were no supports under them. It's not until I jumped or did something jarring that the platform would then make it's way to the floor.

yep.... full of bugs... guess it's best used for props only.... that is - things your not going to pay to much attention to, or aren't too critical to the game... damn shame really... Maybe they'll work on it a bit... the physics in game is very good for players and monsters etc, but its quite unrealistic with the moveable_things:

eg. standing on a barrel, if you walk one way, the barrel freaks out and flies in the same direction :(... realistically it would roll out from under the player in the opposite direction...

I'm not trying to nit-pick my fav new engine, but this is an oversight that applies to all moveable_things :( --> the physics just aint right!
