ok, I know an arena file needs this info:

2 questions:
I read that v 1.5 does not even use this file. Do I need it?
Also, what other options do I need to add for the gametypes to support all stock gametypes?

"war" is for teamdeathmatch, not tdm.

There is a directory in raw that defines them, I forget which one, I think it's "gametypes" in mp, not sure and I can't check right now.

I'm also wondering whether I should package it in my iwd or not. Someone wrote on the IW forums that it gets built into the FF if referenced by the .csv, can anyone confirm that?

edit: rename .iwd's from downloaded files to zips and you can open them to peruse at your leisure ;)

That's my problem too. Too much conflicting information out there. I do know that the map works on all the gametypes without the arena file in the iwd EXCEPT on awe4.


I just wish we could get a standardized resource that has all correct information.

Yep. No luck with my arena file either.

I just succesfully tested my iwd on a "509th2" mod (on my comp) that says it's AWE4. It also worked on all my other mods (modwarfare, bots), and it has no arena file, and is placed in my usermaps\ folder with my ff, not any of my mods folder. The arena file is referenced in my .csv so hopefully it's included in my .ff, if it is ever needed at all.

I followed the instructions on the IW page from this post:

Page 3 is where it gets laid out in a ss. 1st page has line on how to put it in the .csv.

Basically IWD includes nothing but "images" folder with my 2 .iwi in it and a readme.

My arena file is formatted and named properly.

It's in "raw\mp\mp_mapname.arena" and I reference it in my zone file like this: rawfile,mp/mp_mapname.arena

I test my map from the compile tools with +set fs_game "Mods\ModWarfare" in command line options.

But I don't see my map in the list of maps when I vote to change map/gametypes.

The map list doesn't work properly with 1.5, hence the confusion over whether .arena files are actually necessary.

I'm including it in my .ff and not my .iwd for the purposes of beta testing, if people report problems I'll include it in the .iwd. I'm only putting it in the .ff on the off chance a mod like AWE needs it or a later patch to the game makes them work. Or something.

I'm not using 1.5. I uninstalled and went back to the most recent update before that because of crashing and other problems.

What entry do I use to add the arena file to the zone file?

ok, after I add the arena file to the zone file and build the ff, it says not found.
