Need help on making map dark and foggy!

Its a long bridge... Without fog they people can see from 1 end to the other, which i dont want. So I use my .csg to create the fog.

------------
setCullFog (0, 500, .32, .36, .40, 0);
------------
Could someone explain what each number represents. [I know 500 is amount of Fog [500 = very foggy].

But for darkness, what settings should I use and what skies are available?

setCullFog (0, 500, .32, .36, .40, 0);

Setcullfog = type of fog (expfog is another)
First number = distance from player fog starts
Second number = How far the player can see
Third number = red color
Fourth number = blue color
Fith number = green color
sixth number =not used

can you have fog in some areas of the map rather than all over it?

Wyatt [or any1 else who can answer].

When i create a certain amount of Fog [such as 500] some things in the distance can sometimes be seen, and other things cannot. Eithen if the fog is set close, I still get to see object thats are further then others? any ideas.

Also still need dark skybox texture and some good worldspawn settings.

SetCullFog is often used on large open maps to help frame rate. Anything further than you set on the second figure (How far the player can see" is culled. This means, it isn't drawn. Set this figure higher and the player will be able too see further without things being culled.

I've seen in various places that the fog setting has nothing to do with better fps?

Cullfog CULLS out geometry from being drawn, so, it reduces the amount of Tiangles being drawn. Now, there is EXPFOG, that does not cull geometry.

The problem you are having with your color, and seeing obejcts far away is a matter of too dense fog, and bad color selection. The denser you get, some objects will be rendered on the screen at far distance, only showing a shadow image. The only way to stop that is.
1. Lower you fog density,
2. Try different RBG colos, that does not leave far distance shadows from objects.

This is trial and error, BE GLAD you can adjust the fog on the fly in the GSC file, rather than haveing to compile each time.

Anybody got any ideas on this question yet? I'd like to use fog for my COD UO custom map. And how exactly do you make fog and how do you place it on a specific part of the map like alongside a stream?

I read above what the numbers represent, but I just don't know how to create it. Anybody? For a short from the start step-by-step explanation?

Thanx...
