@ manic; you haven't written any scripts, your post is simply displaying "code snippets " used to define an effect and play an effect no actual "scripting".
(not to mention a very long hard way of doing it)

Script is like Codeing to me, i always call it scripts, i always thought you need code to make scripts.?
Mine maybe longer than yours but not that much, and least it works, have you tried it.?
I be trying yours tomorrow, just to see if yours woks better than mine, if it does then fine, but least mine works,so what the point in moaning that it's to long, people are gald it's here, and many people are using it already.
Also if i hadnt put it here people like you wouldnt put other version of CODES/Snippets/Scripts, whatever you want to call it, of this Rain/Thunder/Lightning help on, all the ones if have searched for never worked or had bugs/errors in them and wasnt never explained the correct way.

His tutorial is similar to how it is presented on the Wiki... http://www.infinityward.com/wiki/index.php?title=MP_Mapping%23Add_FXs_to_your_custom_maps again, only a experienced person would know there is repetitive entries in files.. I don't fault you in any way myself.
I think it would be best to those learning however that when you test out his suggestion to see if it works for you, you should update your tutorial...

what one you using. HarkoninVSC or mine. I dont care which one realy ya using to be honest , mine maybe a little long, but it works 100% as you could see in my image. I attend to think the WIKI ones are a problem having errors or now writen correctly and not shown how to set it out right..
I did have help with my cose 2 other people helped, but never got it working 100% i got itto like 75-80% working. you could see the the lightning and hear the rain and thunder, but the rain was nowhere in site, untill i messed around for a couple of hours changing this and that, untill it worked.
Im no coder /scripter/ but least i got somethink to work with a little help, and finaly finished it on my own.

Good job "making it work" but if you are going to write a "tutorial" you should have one that is streamlined with the most "efficient" way of doing things unless you want to be one of those tutorials you went through only to find out it either doesn't work, can be done better, or is buggy.
Optimization is a wonderful thing don't you think? As far as code and script they are two separate things, code snippets are the bridge between the two.
ROAR/...lol im not having a go back Mate, it that it the first ,well 2nd time ive managed to get somethink to work with a little help, people are gald i posted it as not being big headed, but people have congratulated me in a fine tutorial, even if it is a little long, oe not efficent enought.. i posted on Codutlity.com . here the link. http://codutility.com/index.php?file=Sections&op=categorie&secid=12 and CPT-Com said it was a FAB tutorial, making me happy and proud i did somethink that works and will help people (Newbies like myself in mapping.) ive even did a Barrel & Car Explosion tutorial (kinda thing) that also works,, Maybe you can write one a little less longer than mine.. Its good to have differant versions as not all will work ondifferant peoples maps.

Yes I am talking to manic...Tutorial should be updated 'after' you test HarkoninVSC more efficient methods. Showing people how to do it efficiently and with less file modifying is better.
My point to HarkoninVSC is that the Wiki shows you in the same way manickiller presents his tutorial so he shouldn't be faulted. The wiki is is showing people manickilers way. How is anyone supposed to know? Well of course, unless you are experienced with Radiant as you obviously are. ![[cool]](images/BBCode/smilies/cool.gif) |
