I want to make each team have a different colored smoke

I have been looking at this cod2 mod

http://callofduty.filefront.com/file...moke_Mod;49730

and it includes

weapons
materials
fx

I have been looking at the weapon files but im not really sure what was changed to add color, and I have no idea how it would be done in cod4, I'm guessing this is very simple, any help would be much appreciated

u can open the weapon files using asset manager, open weaponsettings_mp.gdt

in the weapon file smoke_grenade_mp it uses american_grenade_mp.efx for the projexplosioneffect which is in raw/props.

maybe this is the file u want to edit.the efx files have sections for colour, scale etc.

hope this helps and doesnt confuse you more as i am just guessing.

Put effects in the fastfile, not an iwd.

Example for the zone source:

fx,impacts/flesh_hit_knife

I made a new weapon file? Mods don't work like maps do they? where would I update zone source for a mod?

Have a play with bin/modbuilder.exe.

Mods are similar in that you still need iwd's for images/mp3's

ok I'm quit confused, I thought I could just make a iwd with the modified weapon file, I have no idea where to go from here

it gives me an option to motify a mod in the mods folder- but how would I create my own?

I have been trying to do the same thing for 4 weeks. Getting new fx to go with a weapon seems difficult at best. As far as I know, no one has done a mod which applies a new fx to a weapon. I have seen some who claim they have but they all have errors when the weapon is used, including my own. Anyone out there willing to do a very simple step by step tut on how to do this?[rolleyes]
