Got DM, WAR (TDM), SD gametypes working on my map, but not KOTH (HQ). Here's what I've done so far:

-have inserted TDM, TDM Allies, TDM Axis spawn entities throughout map

-inserted 5 "war_hq_obj.map" prefabs throughout the map

-each objective prefab has a trigger_multiple fully surrounding it in all x/y/z directions, and each trigger_multiple has a targetname:radiotrigger

-arena file contains "koth"

When I try to run koth, it skips then rotates to DM on Backlot. Map doesn't crash, just simply goes to DM Backlot. I try manual "/g_gametype koth" and rotate to map but no luck. Also tried "g_gametype hq" and doesn't work either.

Is there something that needs to get in the zone file or gsc that I'm missing??

Make sure to include the starter spawns as well...

I have, but can't remember how many....I'll check tonight when I get home. Thanks for the idea Rake.

Does a starter spawn have to be attached to every Allies_TDM and Axis_TDM, or can they be elsewhere? ( I assume elsewhere is oik?), and does there have to be a starter spawn for every single Allied/Axis spawn?


I assume no gsc or zone file info needs to be added in order for KOTH to work? It's all done in Radiant? If so, then I must have missed something in Radiant, otherwise it's possible a zone/gsc thing would need to change.

Trying to narrow down the potential problems..........

In theory, you only need 1 spawn of each, but the number of starter spawns vs the number of regular spawns shouldn't matter.

according to wiki u need to have 7

"Headquarters"
HQ uses TDM spawn entities, so there are no extra spawns to be placed for this game type. To set up a map for HQ, up to 7 locations need to be set up as HQ points. Interior locations tend to work the best for an HQ location. "

though in the end i have the same problem as u, all gametypes i have working properly except HQ though i havent tried koth with loading yet, i had hq wich also skipped to blacklot. havent figured it out yet due to some other problems i had.

minimum stuff for KOTH
1 tdm allies start
1 tdm axis start
1 tdm spawn

2 Headquarters

you can have as many headquarters has you like (i have 10 in one of my maps)

Do all 10 hq work, I was wondering why the tut had a limit of 7.

try this /g_gametype KOTH instead of koth, worked for me [thumbs_up]

No difference with caps......darn.

I went into Backlot.map to check out their HQ....very simple....prefab with a multiple_trigger volume around it, and a targetname:radiotrigger. Then some TDM spawns and starter spawns. Frickin simple!

Cannot figure why mine isn't working. BAH. It goes to loadscreen, then Starting Game, then at the very last second before the loading finishes and you would go into spec........BOOM, rotates to stock map.

ARGH.

Knowing mapping history as I do, it's probably some stupid little thing that's screwing it all up. [banghead]
