Hi all, how about this then.......
I made a map for the modsonline competition - have been an avid map maker since cod2 and have produced several maps on a dedicated server of my own etc.... so i know what im doing sort of thing....anywayz, the map has nothing innit but basic brushes - no xmodels - no anything....... i then added 5 lights and started the dreaded 1-5 steps of compiling the bsp etc
The map worked like a dream, ran around inside, came out, altered a few things, added about 20 more lights, did the 1-5 again, all fine, ran around for ages - all okey dokey.
I went to bed ( leaving my development pc on, hasnt been turned off for months ), woke up in the morning, opened the map, put 1 single barrel in my map - nothing else - no effects, then did the 1-5 again but this time got stuck on step 2 with this error.....
mp_tool.exe - Application Error
the instruction at "0x6ef0f7da" referenced memory at "0x0ee91e9c". The memory could not be written.
lol-unbelievable, now ive been in the computer game for over 20 years and that message my friends is basically telling me that my memorys shagged or theres a BUG in the program.
Now my memory aint shagged - and yes i did test it just in case you ask. And that leaves the program.
So, its not your pcs, your electrical supplies or even your grandmothers neighbours cats fault as to why these errors keep occuring at different times - its the program radiant.
Its free and they dont support it, thats fair enuff, and now and again people do actually manage to get at least some maps out there, what we all gotta do is just keep on debugging their program for em and post the results up here, that way they may sort it out with a patch, or some clever dicky might just have fixed the error himself.
Im off..zz
