Want some real fun? Mod your house!!

I've started on mine as a side project from my other map and it's lots of fun. It's to scale. I"m using a scale 8 size grid so for my purposes 2 blocks/foot is working out. I'm running all over the house measuring door opening sizes, door frame distances from corners, ceiling heights (we have one sunroom), unique offsets where they exists, etc. It's cool seeing your own environment come to life thru modding as some have already suggested doing with their own schools or other places they are familiar with. I'm going to mod indoors as well as outdoors and even our neighbor's house.

Yeah I did this for our home back on CoDUO. I named it "hellhouse" :)

Cool. How long did it take? Did you model the outside too? How close were you able to make it. Did you create your own textures?

It didn't take THAT long really. I was still new at it (hey, I still am LOL) but yeah, I made a battlefield sort of outside merged with our garden and made traps and secrets. Was fun to make although I found it got pretty cramped :)

Remaking environments you're familiar with is fun . I've also been thinking about making my own house, but it's way toooo small. That's why I decided to remake my old school

Im working on a part of my neighbourhood for a map, its fun but alot of work making it as close as possible.

I don't suggest you make a map based on you "School" with all the shootings going on, you never know what somebody could use it for.

I live in Belgium, and there are hardly any shootings on schools here. And it was a small school, I don't think anyone of that school will ever play my map. And even if they do: it won't be an exact copy, they may not even recognize it

Well, I"ve had a great time modding mine. I've spent all day today finishing up some things on it. Adding windows, the carport area, the front yard, a tree , the driveway. Been surprised to find quite a few things from backlot or zipline or the misc folder that have fit well with the things around the house. Struggeld with the terrain for awhile but finally got it looking great. So, who's got the best tutorial on doing textures of your own?
