I went to gamespy to play online with doom, And it said theres a new patch,1.1.... So i downloaded it and tryed to get in a game, and it said all this, and now my game wont even run or my editor, so can someone pleez help me figure this out thanks

Hey foyleman is possible for me to email u my doom 3 folder so u can fix my game. this is freakin pissin me off. I cant build in my map, I cant get doom to run, and i still cant play multiplayer , and i have no idea what to do. Except reinstall doom which ive done before, and it worked again but then when i get the upate to 1.1 nothing works. [puke]

hate to say it, but with an error reported like that.... reinstall.

Then, instead of updating your game from gamespy, download the upgrade from somewhere else and install it that way.

I have the upgrade installed and the editor running so I know it works.

OK i uninstalled the game, and reloaded it and it worked. SO i went to update within the game and it said a new version is available. 1.1...... So i downloaded it and now the game doesnt work again GOD DAMNit. it gives me the same error crap. Does this have sometheing to do with the fact that i have a shortcut to doom , and a shorcut to the editor. Or maybe my files are jacked up. SO i can build my map and play doom 3 single player with patch 1.0, i cant play online. But when i get 1.1 i cant do anything. I udpated threw the game not gamespy and it did the same thing. Now is sounds like one of your custom config files is causing the problem... or perhaps a custom mod/map thing you have installed.

Ok i got it to work, i erased the whole doom 3 directory and uninstalled, and upgraded the game, it works. NOw ABout the editor, i set it up with what this guy said. read the following.




HOW TO GET THE MAP EDITOR WORKING IN DOOM III
The leaked alpha has a built in map editor
And we are gonna get it to work ladies.

You need to do the following things to make it work, muhaha

Maybe there is a different way to do it , but the following steps made mine work ok ......

1. put the whole Doom_III in the root ( C:\ )

2. rename the C:\Doom_III dir to C:\Doom

3. Make a dir and call it scripts place it in the C:\Doom\base

4. Create a text file and save it as doom.qe4 and place this file in the C:\Doom\base\scripts directory

5. open doom.qe4 with notepad and cut paste the below text in it.

6. goto the dir c:\Doom\base\maps and create two directories named mre and mal

8. start doom.exe editor and hit the console key ~
When your in the console type editor

that's it folks !

If you want the default settings delete or rename the editor.cfg file in c:\doom\base

If you want to use that editor.cfg ( the settings of idsoftware team ) you will have to change the bottomline to seta ModelPath "C:\Doom\base\models\mapobjects\cpu\comrack2.lwo"

When the editor starts and it ask's for the doom.qe4 file... just point to it

Hope this works for you guys as it works for me

i dont know what i did before, but when i press f2 to go in the game hrew the editor the screen size is always small and i have to drag the screen to make it bigger. it used to just keep the screen size the way changed it too. so how do i make it stop going small again. And should i set up the editro differently?
