Just use a square brush, then apply a ladder brush to it.

Is this for MP where you just want the player view moving down, or SP where you want animations?

its for MP, my helli is on top of roof i just want player to go up and down. i know how to use the ladder brush, but i would like to have the ladder as a rope kind. Use a square brush !! not real enough.

Make a dense cylinder and use the vertices and bend it around, make it like 4 units, itll look close to a rope with a good texture.

Wont the player look a little strange using a ladder animation to climb a rope? i would imagine he wont even have his hand or feet on it but either side (like he was climbing a ladder) Would it not look better to build a rope ladder and hang that down from the heli, then the animation will fit perfect.

Did you look at using a premade "model" there are numerous ropes in there. Take that model set it up how you like then create a "ladder" patch over it. In game you will just see the rope and it will act as a ladder
