Anyone managed to get custom decals into game yet......and if so, how?

I've spent 2 days trying, using both
DXT3 ARGB explicit alpha and DXT5 ARGB interpolated alpha.
Tried using world phongs, impact marks and unlit materials.
Every type of blend function, and sort method i can think of (including static decals).

The wierd part is i can get the texture to show perfectly in the editor, but in game it wont work. They are either totally transparent, totally black, totally white or normal textures depending upon what settings i've tried.

I know my alpha channels are ok - i made custom decals for cod2 without a hitch.


BTW, Hovering over the 'blendfunct' drop down gives a tooltip saying that "multiply is used for grime decals' (this is what i want). However the convertor gives an error saying that multiply and world phong cannot be used together........what should the material type be when multiply is the blend function?


edit - And yes, i ran the convertor after each test :)

Hope these help, somebody else requested them in another post.





I just followed this tutorial and played with the settings till the assman converted the image without any errors, and thankfully it worked.

did you make it work peri ?


i have the same problem and couldn't make it work.

i get white image instead of the real image that is in the texture list.eanning that i see it good in the texture list but on a brush it is white.

nope

looks great in the editor....compiling gives results like this

(test squares with different decals and different settings - bottom right is a stock decal)

I'm having the same issue, looks fine in editor then in game it appears like a white/cream texture.

I check console and it said that it couldn't find that iwi file for my texture.
I'm moving the image file that was made in the assman to main/images folder (the .iwi file)

Testing that now

Didnt work, still get WARNING: ... 'images/mylogoname.iwi' is missing

Any ideas? [banghead]

same issue here too. my custom textures work fine in editor but not ingame.

theres been many posts asking help with this,surely someone can help.?

i really want custom textures and have no idea what iam doing wrong.could someone do a simple tut showing how to get them working ingame and not just editor.

Ok I'll have a look into creating a tut when i get home tonight, but unfortunately my internet is down at home so anything I do will not get uploaded till tomorrow. [ohwell]

A major pain I know. TBH I think I was lucky as I've had no problem with my textures in game, (except when the map is restarted but I think everyone has this problem. [mad])

At Peri, I'm not sure about alpa channel, I'm pretty sure it didn't have one. I just opened a new file with a transparent bg and put my text on it.
