I was pondering different possibilities with the new physics features.

Would it be possible to make specific physics-effected objects have a rotational origin? Kindof like the rotational origin for scripted opening doors, etc in CoD1 and 2, except effected by physics. (I.E.: You shoot a window-shutter and it swings back due to the physical impact.)

I'm sure if its possible it cannot be too difficult.. Maybe just a simple script?

i don't think the physics in cod 4 are advanced enough for the things your suggesting
you could set up a script so when you shoot it it will trigger something to happen but as for using the physics engine to do the hard work of you its not looking likey

p.s you can do almost anything with scripting if you really good at it

Physics is clientside anyway, you're more likely to do this using a script_brushmodel.

I wonder if something could be done using a simliar strategy as dynamic objects. (See: http://www.modsonline.com/Tutorials-read-439.html)

However...
As November mentioned, even those items are all clientside. If you shoot a bucket and it bounces around the room, everyone else wonders why you are shooting at the wall because they don't see it moving. (Which is a pity. That would have been neat, but it would have wasted valuable netcode speed)

There is maps/mp/_shutter.gsc though, kind of simulates flapping shutters I think...

Alright thanks guys. I was aware of physics being clientside which is what worried me, but I was also in high hopes that you'd be able to make specific objects server-side.

I'm sure if I sat down and took the time, I'd be able to script it no problem, I just dont know if something like that would be worth my time as its not that important of a feature to add.. Maybe something to do when I get bored ;)
