err.. how do you set maya to a Z up?

nvm. could not edit my own post. i found the answer to my own question. for the benefit of those who are also new to Maya and wondering how to do it here it is:

To Switch between Y-up and Z-up

1. Select Window > Settings/Preferences > Preferences and click on Settings.
2. Under World Coordinate System, click Y or Z.

Hi guys. I was wondering if someone could offer any suggestions. I am using maya 7. i can export the models no dramas. the color on the model looks fine in radiant but when i compile the map the model is black. I looked in the tutorial and it says that you have to apply a vertex shader of white. i tried this but now when i compile the map the model is white with no other signs of the texture i applied to it. The tutorial looks like its done for maya 8.0 or above and i was just wondering if it was any different for 7.0 or is there something i am missing.
cheers

Are the textures in a custom IWD? I'd imagine they were or it would crash

i am uving the model then taking a snapshot. then i texture the snapshot in paint shop and apply the texture to the model in maya. i then export the model to cod4. i use the asset manager to convert the material and the model. open up radiant and select the model. in the 2d window and the 3d window the model has the texture that i applied to it but when i compile the map the model is there but it is shaded black. if i use the vertex shader as is suggested in the tutorial then the model is white after it is compiled. i did plenty of models for cod2 using maya and never had this problem. just wondering what i am doing wrong. i have no idea.cheers

i tried putting the model in the mp_test map. it seems to change color depending on the color of its surroundings. in my test map i have grass as the ground texture and the model has a green tinge to it. when i put it in the mp_test map it has a blue tinge to it. i have no idea what i am doing wrong but the model is surposed to be fluro pink.
