As title suggests, do custom sounds have to be a certain birate/frequency to be able to be heard? I simply cannot get it to play. There's nothing wrong with the map or the soundalias csv file.

yes
i believe they need to be 8-bit mono. you can mix it up to 22KHz as well.

Your right! I simply loaded the sound into Sound Recorder that comes with windows, saved with those settings and now it works :)
