Will it work if we don't have a .csv file when we compile the map?

ok and do u have to have a csv or gsv file for a server to run the map> if so how can i make it

When you have a CSV file it will compile into the ff file automatically.

A CSV file is found in your [root]/raw/maps
you can also copy the csv and place it in your [root]/raw/maps/mp By doing this it insures that it compiles correctly, although in most cases it is not needed in the maps/mp folder.

If you do not have one simply create one by creating a txt file, then adding the following code:

defeatBackdrop,$default
levelBriefing,loadscreen_mp_mymapname


Save the file then rename the file extension to .csv

Save the file then rename the file extension to .gsc

Then recompile your map and insure that your zonefile is also up to date.

In my post above I made a boo boo in the code. In the GSC file, use this code instead of that other stuff:

The reason why you need to use this code is, if you use the one in the above post, it will error in some of the mods, mainly Extreme. Using the above code in this post, will remove the chance for that nasty red texture error. (you know... the nasty one that covers the entire view port.)

for being easy it still wont work dam !!
i have tryed 100 differnt ways to run this map subway
and a few differnt maps ,about 20
play them on public servers ,just not mine they do download my redirect works everyone gets the map but it dont show on server map rotation list if i put it in map rotation it will crash server same map on many servers ?
another thing is half of them say read only file
so i tryed to put the iwd in mods folder with ff in user folder no go ??[banghead] i have made many maps never this much crap cod 4 is starting to be the biggest pain ever (they made it easyer they said more cool stuff)
but they bite the big one when it comes to running the maps on cod 2 i could run anything mods, map pack's with over 40 custom at once ,this new deal stink's limit maps on your server a server config that only run basic (cant turn off sucky perks that you dont want can't turn off heli air stikes so you can scrim ,have to run unranked to do so ,
the game is very cool and all but limited so having said all that as a owner server admin,mapper ,and modder ,
cod 4 is a nightmare ...........!
back to maps on servers..
any body know of any more ways to get these to work on pub servers? ..or mwhat com line to change the map in game (exec map rotate subway ) or how to change servers to rotate to the said map that you want[mad]
sorry nothing personal been trying make time to map but spending the time on all this little crap

ok ive got it to work and ill staet a post for it
"how to set up custom maps on your server"

first make a folder in your main (yes cod4/main)
called usermaps now make a folder your mp_mapname
now in this put ff files ff load files and iwd (some are ff only!)
depends on the map
now they will download and show up on rcon as selectable !!
in my post i will add how to use a downloader as well

this works on modded servers but still working on how to get it to work on getting them to work on stock servers

Thank you so so much for the tutorial Phil, you go into great detail which is always handy [rocking]

However, I followed your tutorial and when loading up the map on my fathers PC it crashed, I couldn't see the error message so I just did CTRL+C and pasted it into notepad, the error was that it couldn't find the image loadscreen_mp_iced

I don't see why it cannot find the loadscreen.
