hello.

How can i make rain??

I have this on my gsc file


level._effect[ "weather" ] = loadfx( "rain_1.efx" );
maps\mp\_fx::loopfx("weather", (8.0,8.0, 64.0), 3);

THis is a United Offensive tutorial but it should follow same standards for cod4.

Sorry but is there any tut for a COD4? coz for a noob like me that UO tut is out of my league.

I did it this way in my map_fx.gsc:

Works fine... dont forget to update zone file, build fast file, ...
Everytime I add a new effect, I have to start the level once, then build the fast file, update the zone file and build the fast file again (5-3-4-3). [duh]

I have a quick question. I know that these are coordinates, but what does the "1" at the end represent. ( x, y, z), ?)

I have tried my absolute best to follow the tutorials, I have read them over and over religiously but cannot seem to get my map 'snowing'. I have added all of what I assume I need but It doesn't actually snow. I presume it loads in the effects but the actual game doesn't display it at all. Here is a screenshot of my .GSC, FX.GSC and my asset files. Any idea?

I am new to this as well, but I might be able to help you. Put this code in your mp_iced_fx.gsc

main()
{

level._effect["snow_light"] = loadfx ("weather/snow_light_mp_bloc");
maps\mp\_fx::loopfx("snow_light", (-320, -320, 192), 1);

}

Make sure you replace my coordinates with your map coordinates. So, try that. Let me know if this works.

How do I know my whole map coordinates. I want it to snow all over the map, not just in one area. I hope this makes sense and thanks for your reply.

Thats why i gave you the tutorial I gave you. It makes a node for every player on the server and spawns the snow at their location but at a higher altitude. The 1 after the coordinates is the respawn time, so the effect respawns every second.

The prob with just giving it a coordinate like that is it will only spawn it in one location as jack said.

Jack if you have xfire you can pm on that, my name is killa6801. I should still have a gsc file i created with rain for my UO map. The only thing I did different was included it all into one script file instead of breaking them up and having them called from the main gsc.
