Hi.
I never used glass mapping for earlier cod. Now I wonder...

I want my windows to have the same opaque look as a carwindow and also with the same fx. (that they eventually break). The problem is that I don't know where to start and I don't have any scripting skills at all. I don't even know in what file the script should be included.

Is there a tutorial for this that work with Cod4?


-What texture to use
-What to script
-Where to put the script
-How to include it when testing the map.

Btw. Its a mp_map

Thanks even though it doesn't have an answer to everything. :/

Just a thought... In the sp_map inside that TV-station there are alot of breakable windows and glassdoors... Isn't there a way to reuse them or somehow atleast reuse those textures?

Anyone know if it's possible to...

Load a prefab model(vehicle_80s_sedan_yel_destructable.map) Then "break it apart" (to copy the glasswindows) and maybe that way find out how they are scripted?

If it's possible then it would be easy just to resize those windows to glassdoors and use in my own map.

There are others on this forum with far more experience than I have, but I don't think it's possible for the vehicle prefabs, or basically anything that's a model (as opposed to a building prefab made with brushes). As far as I can tell, the contents of prefabs/misc_models - where the vehicles are located - are not editable.

inspire yourself from
prefabs/mp_destructibles/destructible_plank01.map

open it and see how that is made.

in short, it involves cutting an window in many small dynamic brushes, on which you give the proper entity key/values.

select a small brush in that prefab, press n.
you will have to use a glass destroyefx (ex:prop/car_glass_med.efx), you will also have to give values of health and physpreset that applies better to glass...

im assuming this would work.
